In 2009, Kappa Delta Sorority created the Confidence Coalition to mobilize the many organizations, companies and individuals that promote self-esteem and confidence among girls and women. The coalition soon went from nine founding partners to 40-plus by the end of its first year. Together we are committed to reaching the women and girls in our nation with the message that they are good enough, that they can make their dreams a reality.
This national movement enables women and girls to stand up to peer pressure and media stereotypes, say no to risky behavior and abusive relationships, and put an end to relational aggression, such as bullying – on the playground and in the office. By banding together to launch a national media campaign, website and action projects, we are bringing awareness to the many issues that can affect the confidence of women and girls.
Soon after the creation of the Confidence Coalition, Kappa Delta created International Girls Day, on behalf of the coalition, to celebrate the spirit of girls. With the slogan, “She Can Do Anything,” International Girls Day encourages girls to embrace their unique talents, dream big and realize their potential. The coalition will reach out to women during September in honor of International Women’s Friendship Month by encouraging women to celebrate those special friends who give them confidence to be their best. Awareness projects of the Confidence Coalition include the “You Make Me Smile” balloon campaign and the “Go Confidently” handbag collection.
We encourage like-minded individuals, organizations and companies to join the coalition to impact our culture. Check out ways you can get involved.
The Confidence Coalition is possible through the generous support of the Kappa Delta Foundation, the funding arm of Kappa Delta Sorority.
