Confidence Coalition Launches New Website!

With the help of its 45 partners, a national media campaign and social networking presence, the Confidence Coalition, created in the summer of 2009 by Kappa Delta Sorority, is reaching tens of thousands of girls and women with its message. To reach an even greater audience, we are proud to announce the launch of the new, expanded website. Visitors to the site can now find confidence building tips and advice, games, pledges, e-cards, plenty of downloads and information on confidence-building programming and events in communities across the country.

In addition to the Confidence Coalition primary pages, visitors can navigate to three areas directed to specific audiences – girls ages 5-12; teens ages 13-17; and women of all ages. There are also pages dedicated to the celebration of International Women’s Friendship Month (September) and National Girls Day (November 14).

The pages feature blogs and vlogs from well-respected authorities in the field of self-esteem, such as Rachel Simmons, author of Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls, Irene Levine, Ph.D., psychologist and author, also known as “the Friendship Doctor”, and Jess Weiner, Dove’s Global Ambassador on Self Esteem.

How you can help spread the word:

  • Visit the site – www.confidencecoalition.org – and sign the pledge.

  • Include information about the coalition on your Facebook page or on Twitter. Add the Confidence Coalition logo or badge to show your support of the movement. Make sure to link to the new site.

  • Encourage your local women’s and girls’ organizations to participate in the Confidence Coalition and work together to build confidence in girls and women.

  • Suggest that your place of worship provide a study, class or sermon on the need to build confidence in girls and women.

  • Use the posters, ads and handouts to spread the word about the Confidence Coalition in your community. Place ads in newsletters, school publications and newspapers. Hang posters in store windows, at the library, all around town. Hand out flyers at an event or gathering.

  • This month – September – is International Women’s Friendship Month. Our women friends often give us the support and confidence to realize our dreams. Encourage your friends or the women’s groups to which you belong to celebrate the special role their women friends play in their lives. Suggest that your place of worship plan a celebration for women. International Women’s Friendship Month is featured on the new site here.

  • Begin planning now for International Girls Day – November 14. This year will mark the first annual celebration, so you can get on board from the very start! Plan a celebration with your daughters and their friends. Share information about the day with local girls’ organizations and your place of worship. Encourage your members to celebrate the day. Find out more.

  • Help spread the word about the Healthy Media for Youth Act, one of the “Take Action” projects of the Confidence Coalition. Join us in this effort to impact our culture and the media. Get the details.

Together, we can raise awareness about the importance of confidence in the daily lives of all girls and women, recognizing that with confidence girls and women around the world can achieve anything.
